Kenneth Richmond

Dr. Richmond is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who serves as the Medical Director for AMHS. He appreciated the opportunity to become a partner in AMHS because of the integral role he could offer to community mental health needs of Virginia. As a native of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, he understands the challenges and impact of having meagre mental health resources. He is no stranger to service. He recently completed 5 years of active duty service in the US Air Force in October 2017 and was first stationed at Joint-Base Langley-Eustis before completing assignments in the combat zone and outside the US continent. He brings with him a variety of clinical and leadership experiences stemming from his residency training, providing mental health care in a combat zone, and working with servicemembers, leaders, peers, and DoD beneficiaries. He has experience treating common mental health conditions in the outpatient and inpatient settings.Dr. Richmond completed his undergraduate education at Xavier University of Louisiana. He went on to medical school at George Washington University School of Medicine in the nation's capital. His decision to enter field of Psychiatry resulted in him being trained at the University of Pittsburgh Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, where he also served as a Chief Resident. He rounded out his professional interest by earning a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, where he was invited to join the international business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma because of his high academic achievement.
